John 14:5-7

Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”  Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you have known me, you will know my Father too. And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”  Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

I can't blame Thomas for asking this question. How do you get to somewhere, if you don't have the somewhere? Jesus' response reveals that directions are not necessary, and that they already have who they need to get to to God's house. In fact, it's not just Thomas that will need Jesus to get there: everyone who wants to get to God's house needs to come to Christ. Jesus is the way because He is God the Son and He alone dealt with our sin. Our hope for heaven rests solely upon Christ. To know Jesus is to also know God the Father.
